2024 President's Message
Greetings MNIAI Members,
For those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Ryan Fitzgerald and I have the honor to serve as your 2024 MNIAI President. Since graduating college from the University of North Dakota, I have spent the last 20 years serving in a variety of positions at the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office. I am currently assigned as the Sergeant of our Investigations Division, supervisor of our Crime Scene Team and I am an IAI Certified Crime Scene Investigator.
From the Drone Team to the Dive Team, I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of extra duty positions over the years but none of them I found more rewarding and challenging than as a member of the Crime Scene Team. The amount of time and dedication necessary to do this job well is immense and I applaud those of you who have accepted that challenge.
It has been an honor and privilege to be on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Division of the International Association of Identification for the past 6 years. In those years, I have learned from the Educational Conferences and have met some very talented individuals who have dedicated themselves to serve in this difficult profession.
I would like to thank former president Teryn Richsmann for a successful 2023 MNIAI Fall Educational Conference in Duluth. The Speakers, Sponsors and demonstrations were great. I hope to build off that and also provide some new scenery at the 2024 MNIAI Conference at the Breezy Point Resort, September 25, 26, and 27. My hope is this new venue will bring some additional space and networking opportunities for everyone.
When you have a moment, please check out the MNIAI website and/or Facebook page. Both are great resources to learn more about the organization, connect with other members and get updates on upcoming trainings and conferences. If you are interested in becoming a future member of the Board of Directors, feel free to reach out to me or any current or former board member.
Thank you for your involvement in the Minnesota Division of the International Association for Identification!
I look forward to seeing you at the conference in September.
